UH-GameLink

UH GameLink is a web application that helps University of Hawaiʻi students connect through their love of video games. Students who play games casually or competitively have difficultly finding other UH students with similar interests, schedules, or favorite games. This project aims to make it easier for students to meet new people, discover gaming communities, and build connections through shared games.

Our intentions for UH GameLink were to have a centralized platform that allowed for UH students to find others who play the same games and share each other’s interests. We built this app with the hope that people will connect with others for casual play, teamwork, and community involvement. Moreover, we wanted students to be able to network with people they had common ground with. Which is why our application includes a community page to view gaming-related Discord servers, groups, and events.

For this experience, we have had the opportunity to develop innovative solutions to address real-world problems. Putting into practice the web development languages that we have learned throughout the semester, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript. Deploying the use of functional programming, mastery of UI design, and collaboration in team efforts. The end result is a project that showcases the many skills and values we have learned from our software development course.
